Psion Review/General Stuff

Posted by paradisio on July 7, 2009

First before I begin, the first part of this is a bit of a rant, if you are looking for info on the newly release 4e Class I recommend you scroll down a bit to the review heading, read on at your own risk.

Well, today the Psion was released on Dungeons & Dragons insider, a preview of the class appearing in Player’s Handbook 3. and with it rampant hatred that follows anything in D&D with the word “psion” or “psionic”. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always thought of the power of the mind as a very interesting thing, and one that unlike many people, actually seems fitting in a fantasy setting, just like magic. Prinny “Can I realy be the hero?” In review

Posted by paradisio on April 19, 2009

In short yes, in reality no. This is going to be a pretty short review seeing as I didn’t beat this game. Unlike the previous instalments of the Disgaea series this is a side scrolling action game. Now don’t get me wrong while reading this it was fun for a short while but as the game wore on it quickly turned sour. You see it suffers from the same problem that Super Ghouls and Ghosts (SNES) had. When you jump you go at a 45- angle forward or backward and then straight up. The problem is once you jump you are stuck at that angle without the ability to change direction once you are in the air. The only exception to this rule is if you ground pound but that can lead to death just as easy. Read the rest of this entry »

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts in Review

Posted by paradisio on March 29, 2009

I recently got through playing the newish banjo game on the 360, and I have to say I had a lot of fun playing through it.  In short this is a vehicle based combat/racing/goal based game play. The only downfall is that the traditional platforming game play has been all but done away with. The trade off in this title is the vehicles themselves…. Read the rest of this entry »

Left 4 Dead Review (XBox 360) and My Introduction

Posted by paradisio on March 11, 2009

Welcome to my first review on GarGamer. My name is Paradisio, although my real name is Chris. I’m the creator/director of GarGamer and will probably be the most frequent submitter of content to the site. I’ll also be breaking down my typical review style I’ll be using for video games. If you have any input about the style, review or the site in general or simply an idea for a game to review, send them to paradisio15@gmail.com. I’m going to attempt to do at least one video game review a week, time permitting.

So, for my first real article, I’ll be doing a review for Left 4 Dead for the Xbox 360. This game isn’t exactly brand new, having been released back in November; but the community in the game is still active and going strong. Left 4 Dead (or L4D from now on), is a zombie survival-horror post apocalyptic team based first person shooter by Valve (that was quite the mouthful). While this review covers the Xbox 360 platform, it is also available on the PC as well, and most of the information here should be applicable to that version.

Halo Wars in Review

Posted by paradisio on March 6, 2009

So I just got Halo Wars and I am enjoying it quite a bit believe it or not.  I even got a friend of mine to play it and he got hooked, the best part is he isn’t a fan of the RTS games.  Now I know what everyone is thinking and before you say anything, yes I know that it is an RTS on a console and that they suck more than anything could suck. But, to it’s credit it is a very well done console RTS.  As far as I can tell the units are fairly balanced and easily moved around the map. A downside is that you have a hard time selecting individual units for special attacks. Read the rest of this entry »
